Forgiveness is one of the most important virtues given by the Lord. Just as His son, Jesus, was merciful enough to understand and forgive us even after his arms were tied on the cross by us. This divine act of forgiveness stated in Luke 23:34 which says ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing’ is, nowadays, among the most memorable biblical quotes. But why is that so?
Of all the phrases ever said by Jesus, why is this act so impressive to us, humans? One of the reasons could be that we are less and less able to forgive those who harm us. However, the Bible repeatedly suggests that we forgive our siblings while setting Jesus as the main example.
”Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32
But how can you become more tenderhearted and kind to those around you – especially when their behavior is harmful? Although there is no specific answer for this, the old saying ‘Practice makes perfect’ works in this case as well. Apart from Jesus, there are a few people who also set a great example of forgiveness and kindness to those around them and their stories are found in the Scripture.

After being raised by a kind man and changing others’ lives in prison, Joseph gained power over the kingdom. One day, a special event occured. He came face to face with his long-lost brothersNow that they met again, the family
moved in Egypt, shortly before Joseph’s father passed away. Meanwhile, his brothers were expecting a revenge on behalf of Joseph for the fact that he was sold to slavery as a child. In fact, they were so afraid of their brother, it seemed impossible for them to get along.
Finally, Joseph’s reaction to the fearful attitude of his brothers has left everyone speechless:
